Let's hear it for The Lanson 2 London Ride for Sarcoma UK team on completing their epic ride over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
Fuelled by Cornish spirit and steely grit, Gareth Lancaster and his team of extraordinary fundraisers achieved a ride, nothing short of heroic.
Gareth is has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Sarcoma. 10 people are diagnosed with Sarcoma in the UK everyday and 50% of those don't survive longer than 5 years. These odds are not pretty, but Gareth and his incredible team are changing that. Their aim to fund vital research projects looking for better treatments and raise awareness of the symptoms of sarcoma to help patients get an early diagnosis.
The team rode ‘The Trafalgar Way’ - a legendary route, steeped in history and endeavour for over 200 years. Now considered an ultimate test of the legs and a rite of passage for devoted Cornish cyclists.
The team of 14 covered 240 miles over 3 days. Sleep deprived and pushed to their physical limits, they were rewarded with the occasional pub stop and made it in to Waterloo, London on Sunday afternoon to a hero welcome!
We were thrilled to greet these West Cornwall Pasty Co pilgrims with a hearty traditional pasty to celebrate their journey, and their true Cornish spirit - in raising an incredible £10,000 for The Sarcoma charity.
