As we celebrate our great vegetarian options during NATIONAL VEGETARIAN WEEK our Brand Manager Sonia Hebrard chats to QuickBite Magazine about the importance of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options on the West Cornwall Pasty Co menus.
“How does the pies and pasties sector accommodate alternative dietary requirements such as vegetarianism/veganism/gluten free etc?”
“This is something we feel very passionate about. 20% of our sales are in vegetarian flavours, therefore we regularly update our vegetarian options. Last year we launched a hand crimped PGI status gluten free traditional Cornish pasty, which went on to win the Gold award for Food to Go at the FreeFrom Awards in March 2017. We also listened to feedback from our vegan community and introduced a Thai Green Vegetable Pasty with vegan status, which went on to win an award at both the World Pasty Championships and the British Pie Awards. This is now part of our core line."
