OUR CORNISH TRADITIONS
A Cornish Christmas to us means cosy times in front of the fire, snowy landscapes, brisk walks along ice clad beaches in warm knits. It's also the perfect time to indulge in our love of Cornish traditions and legends...
THE STUFF OF LEGENDS
We love getting together and heading out to the Christmas markets in Fowey, Bude, Padstow and Falmouth for real Cornish Christmas feels and tastes from local foodie artisans and crafters - it's the perfect time to explore Cornish heritage and ways. Just perhaps approach the legendary Star Gazy Pie with caution and don't forget to try a Christmas traditional drink called Mahogany, Cornish fishermen celebrate a good catch with a boozy concoction of two parts gin to one part black treacle!
THE CORNISH WREATH
No Cornish Christmas complete without The Cornish Bush made by weaving holly, mistletoe and ivy around a circle of withy - it's a beautiful ringlet that traditionally you hang in your home on December the 20th, the perfect match to a fully decked out Christmas Tree.
THE BIG DIP
'Brace yourselves' this is going to be cold! Head on down to the beach and take a dip into the Atlantic for this perishing tradition! Cornish Christmas Day swims are strictly for the brave - get yourself along to one of our beaches for the ultimate wake-up call this Christmas!
